I had to stop and see what these televisions are displaying. I thought it must be something important because there must be a significant thing New Trier has to advertise in order to buy TVs to do so. I walked up and looked at the screen, and it had posted the weather. I was dumbfounded... Weather? Our school spends however much money to buy flat screen televisions in the hallways to advertise things like weather. Then I saw one on the third floor that was displaying a video of a bunch of New Trier students walking around. Honestly?? This is where the money goes? We could use it for such better purposes, such as finding ways to commit our minds to inquiry, our hearts to compassion, and our lives to the service of humanity...

what I found in the halls of NT...
So as I was walking through the halls, I looked up and noticed that there was a flat screen television attached to the wall in the front rotunda, then as I walked to the athletic locker rooms, I saw another near the gyms. Finally, I walked up to my class on the second floor, and noticed one there too...

I can't agree more. I think that it is totally rediculous that we spend tons and tons of money on these televisions. We could use the money for so many better things and as you stated the televisions are showing weather and kids walking around. The only other thing that I have ever seen on those are club announcements and our school run "tv program."
I completely agree. I don't understand why we would spend money on flat screen televisions in the first place. But if that's how NT decides to spend their money then can't they think of something more productive to feature than the weather...?
Before this post I was watching Cribs on MTV. Some of the rappers have so much money they don't know what to do with it. I feel like New Trier is the same.
You hit the nail on the head Andrea, instead of spending money on worthwhile things like fixing up the school, we are buying TV's to watch who knows what. We need to figure out a way to put this money to good use.
I agree with all of you, i also find this really annoying that we spent so much money to put up flat screens all over NT and all they display is the weather and the occasional NT update. We should be putting our money to much better use, like fixing up the school or putting the money towards a good cause.
